SHANE WALKER
drummer
Shane Walker has played and studied drums since he was 5 years old, is a
lifetime musician who plays many instruments, including guitars, bass, and
drums, and all brass instruments, his favorite being the trombone in
particular, has played in many bands across the United States, and
teaches beginner, intermediate, and advanced drums at Arizona Music Academy,
Arizona's foremost music school located in Tempe, AZ.
Shane came onboard with Charles Watson & Hollow Council
in 2008. Shane, call him the "Captain", definitely takes command and
pumps out the beat.
He is also an eclectic hand drummer, degreed in music studies, and a proficient
overall musician. Shane Walker is a
drummer who is all about the details and experienced in all genres and
styles of music and drumming. He and Charles have played music together
informally for 2 years prior to his joining Charles Watson & Hollow Council.
Shane also
began playing trombone at 11 years old and throughout his Junior High and
High School years received many State awards and performed at various
community events.
Shane Walker also began playing guitar and bass at age 5 and teaches group
and private classes for classical guitar method, electric guitar, acoustic
guitars, A/e, and bass guitar, electric and acoustic guitar lessons for
beginner, intermediate, and advanced guitar and bass lessons for all genres
and styles of music at Arizona Music Academy.
Charles Watson was teaching at Arizona Music Academy and this is where he
and Shane met. Soon after Shane joined the teaching staff, the two of them
were jamming out in the after hours at the school and also inviting a
keyboard, piano, and vocal teacher Michael Wheeler to jam. Shane Walker is
an
incredible powerhouse drummer. He encompasses the hardest of metals to the
timber of hand and hide. Shane Walker has the touch of skillful refinement
and driving dialogue with the music that defines what good drumming is all
about. Shane's talent as an overall professional and degreed musician adds a
unique dimension to everything he does, a detailed technician as well as
highly creative, his drumming techniques cross all genre boundaries
for extraordinarily fresh styles of percussion instrumentation and rhythms.
"Shane Walker"
Shane Walker
developed an interest in music early in life. Listening to different types
of music in the womb he was born with a pair of drumsticks in his hands.
Unsure of how to use them at such an early age he caused more destruction
than music. Soon he picked up on the piano after watching his grandmother
rock out at church. Unable to afford piano lessons Shane mostly played by
ear, then a mysterious package showed up at his door containing what modern
man called a trombone. After winning awards and local admiration for his
achievement on the instrument he noticed how much trouble drummers got into
and had to get involved somehow. After buying his first set of drums for 75$
he took them to the garage and hung his cymbals by rope from the ceiling. He
played them almost as much as he played his Nintendo. Playing in rock bands
before he was even 16 Shane already realized this passion would take him
nowhere, or so he thought!
Shane has been
playing music professionally for almost 15 years. Working in music stores
and teaching has also helped this incredible journey happen. From playing
blues in Memphis to playing metal in Chicago, Shane has covered a lot of
ground. Also an accomplished guitar player and bass player he has recorded
on several studio albums. Some of the artists Shane has played or recorded
with just to name a few!
Simple, Hit man
union, Junk, S.P.O.T.S. , Vent, Jesse and the Funk Healers, The 1-900s,
Pastel, Jar , Bleakhouse, End of Eye, Third Uncle, Fred Funkstone, Sparrow,
Super Heroes In Training, Pressure, Mazzy Must, Adam Dont Care, Brittney
Elizabeth , Charles Watson, and many, many more!!!
Shane moved to Phoenix,
AZ in 2005 to attend the Motorcycle Mechanics Institute. Playing in bands
all through out the valley he landed a teaching gig at the Arizona Music
Academy where he befriended Charles Watson and soon began playing music
together.
